St. Mary’s Basilica with the Altarpiece by Veit Stoss
St. Mary’s Church is one of the most important monuments of Krakow, towering over the Main Square with its characteristic towers. Inside it is a masterpiece of late Gothic art – the impressive altarpiece by Wit Stwosz, depicting scenes from the life of Mary. Every hour, the Marian bugle call is sounded from the higher tower, interrupted abruptly in memory of the legendary trumpeter. It is a place of extraordinary atmosphere and great historical significance.
