Wieliczka Salt Mine

Wieliczka Salt Mine

The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the oldest operating underground enterprises in the world and a true treasure of Polish heritage. Its corridors stretch for several hundred kilometres and the tourist route leads through breathtaking chambers, underground lakes and salt sculptures. The biggest attraction is the impressive St Kinga’s Chapel, entirely carved in salt. It is an extraordinary place that combines history, art and the unique atmosphere of the underground world. The Wieliczka Salt Mine is only about 10 km from Krakow, making it an ideal destination for a day trip.
